Alot of players have issues with tanks and i think i know why. I have noticed there are two main factors that effect a tanks survivability;
1. Is your fitting 2. The way you drive them
The second is the most important you can have the best fit tank but if you have absolutely no idea how to use it you will be destroyed nearly every match. To be a good tank driver you need to know your strengths, your weakness and your capabilities also the strength and weakness of everything you plan to take down.
But here is were i think the issue is tanks are not sand box there is only a few right ways to fit them. On top of that there is the right only one way to drive a pro fit. To make things even more unbalanced the players doing it right are the ones calling in tanks nearly every match and getting better at driving, those doing it wrong play 6 matches before saving up enough isk to get blown up next match. It takes a lot of sp dedication and perseverance to become a pro but if you ask the top tankers out there they will say they are more or less happy with their tank.
I drive a madruger blaster, I take out a lot of tanks i lose a lot of tanks. Some times i can rack up 100+ kill streak over 6 matches on a good team and on a bad team i'll lose 5 tanks in 6 matches. I can come up against the same enemy tank again and again and win or lose, weather its a sheild tank, armour tank, blaster, rail, missile or even militia!
So whats the solution? for new tankers more understanding of what makes a tank good and how to use it. For experienced tankers more sand box more modules. Which CCP is working on, at the moment we have mobile turrets, CRU's and Scanners but ask yourselves what if we had mobile hackers, what if we had mobile hospitals, what if we had mobile supply deports, clocks, webs. I would imagine the tanks we have now would be more of a defense for more objective orientated tanks. |

you pretty much there, the tanks we have now in my opinion are balanced the way people fit them and use them makes some people think they're op and makes others think that av it is very hard to keep them from going pop if your not working with your team. What i'm hoping for in the future tho is different tanks with different roles like i mentioned. What if instead of a large blaster turret you had a module that could hack an objective that sort of thing. |
